How Vehicle Fires Can Start After Traffic Crashes
Intersections such as 7th Street and Grand Avenue can create risk due to turning movements. When injuries are reported in Clovis, crews often work to stabilize traffic flow and protect those at the scene.
Vehicle fires sometimes occur after a crash when fuel systems or engine components are damaged. Heat from the engine, electrical sparks, or leaking fuel can ignite quickly after impact. In these situations, responders work to control the fire while assisting injured people and keeping bystanders at a safe distance.
Fires can also make it difficult to immediately identify vehicles involved in a collision. Heavy flames, smoke, and damage may obscure details until the scene is secured and the fire is extinguished.
