Crashes Caused by Vehicles Entering Oncoming Traffic
When a vehicle crosses into the path of oncoming traffic, the result is often a side-impact collision. These crashes can happen quickly, leaving little time for the other driver to react.
Highways like US 54 often involve intersecting traffic from multiple directions. Even a brief lapse in attention or misjudgment can place a vehicle directly in the path of another.
Side-impact crashes frequently cause significant vehicle damage because the sides of vehicles provide less protection than the front or rear. Staying alert at intersections and maintaining lane control are key steps in helping prevent similar collisions.
