What Factors Can Lead to Multi-Vehicle Expressway Crashes?
Expressways often carry fast-moving traffic, which can increase the impact of a sudden collision. When one vehicle loses control or makes contact with another, nearby drivers may have little time to react, leading to a chain of crashes.
Routes like the Crosstown Expressway and the Morgan Avenue area often handle steady traffic flow. After a serious crash, traffic can slow quickly, and crews may need to redirect vehicles while clearing the scene and damaged cars.
Speed differences, lane changes, and following distance can all affect how these crashes develop. Debris on the roadway can also create hazards for other drivers, making it necessary to close lanes until the area is safe again.
