How Medical Emergencies Can Lead to Serious Crashes
Sudden medical emergencies while driving, such as a heart attack, seizure, or loss of consciousness, can cause a driver to lose control of their vehicle without warning. In these situations, there may be little to no time to pull over, increasing the likelihood of a crash.
If a vehicle drifts out of its lane or crosses into oncoming traffic, the risk of a high-impact, head-on collision rises significantly. These types of crashes are often severe due to the combined speed of both vehicles and the unexpected nature of the incident.
Medical-related crashes highlight the importance of recognizing warning signs like dizziness, chest pain, or extreme fatigue before getting behind the wheel. Seeking medical care and avoiding driving when symptoms are present can help reduce the risk of serious accidents and improve overall road safety.
