The second truck’s driver and one passenger were also involved. The passenger was taken to a hospital for evaluation. The driver of the first truck was arrested at the scene and also taken to a hospital for treatment. Charges had not been announced at the time of this report.

How Impaired and Reckless Driving Crashes Are Reviewed on Texas Highways
When a driver is arrested following a serious crash on a Texas highway, the review process typically involves both criminal and traffic safety components. Evidence collected at the scene, including vehicle positions, skid marks, and barrier damage, helps reconstruct how the crash unfolded. That physical evidence is often paired with any available data from the vehicles themselves.
Crashes where a driver crosses multiple lanes and strikes fixed structures are treated as high-priority cases in Texas. The involvement of multiple occupants, especially when a juvenile is among the seriously hurt, can add layers to the legal proceedings that follow. Charges in these cases are typically announced after medical treatment is complete and the initial investigation has concluded.
