What Is Reviewed in Rear-End Traffic Crashes?
Rear-end crashes are often analyzed by reviewing traffic flow, driver reaction time, and following distance before impact. These collisions frequently occur when vehicles fail to anticipate stopped or slowing traffic ahead.
Investigators also examine brake application, roadway conditions, and visibility at the time of the crash. Vehicle damage and resting positions can help determine the force and direction of impact.
In injury cases, medical evaluations and seat belt use are also documented to better understand how occupants were affected.
