Why Head-on Collisions Often Result in Severe Injuries
Head-on collisions are among the most serious types of traffic crashes because the combined force of two vehicles traveling toward one another can produce devastating impacts. Occupants may suffer severe injuries even when modern safety features such as airbags and seat belts function as intended.
Investigators typically examine tire marks, vehicle damage, debris patterns, roadway conditions, and any available surveillance footage to determine how one or both vehicles entered the opposing lane. They may also review speed, driver actions, and possible mechanical or environmental factors before determining the cause of the collision.
