What Conditions Can Lead to Rear-End Crashes on Highways?
Main travel routes near U.S. 301 can become hazardous when vehicles slow or change direction unexpectedly. When larger vehicles prepare to turn or cross lanes, their position on the roadway can create sudden obstacles for approaching traffic.
If part of a vehicle extends into an active lane, it may reduce the available space for others to pass safely. Drivers traveling at highway speeds may have limited time to react to these changes, increasing the chance of a collision.
Roadway design, traffic flow, and vehicle positioning all influence how these situations develop. Clear lane use and predictable movements can help reduce the likelihood of serious crashes.
