Highway Collisions and Lane Closures
Main travel routes near Highway 101 and the Bayside Cutoff can see delays after collisions. Injury accident scenes in Eureka may involve temporary lane closures while responders assist those involved and remove damaged vehicles.
Highway crashes sometimes push vehicles off the roadway or cause them to overturn, especially when multiple vehicles are involved. These situations may leave debris or disabled vehicles blocking travel lanes.
When a lane is closed after a crash, traffic crews may slow or stop approaching vehicles to protect responders working at the scene. These measures help reduce the chance of additional collisions while the roadway is cleared and reopened.
