The California Highway Patrol reported the crash shortly after 3:36 a.m. near Cactus Ave.
By about 3:45 a.m., emergency units reported three vehicles involved, with an SUV and a person located across the freeway lanes.
A fatality was confirmed in the initial report. The identity of the deceased person was not immediately released.
