Glasgow, KY (March 12, 2026) – One person was injured in a crash at the intersection of Happy Valley Rd and Lexington Dr in Glasgow.
Emergency units responded to the collision on Wednesday, March 11, after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash. Early findings indicate a 16-year-old driver was attempting to pull out of the Ely Drugs parking lot onto Happy Valley Rd and continue across to Lexington Dr.
Investigators said the teen driver did not see an SUV traveling westbound on Happy Valley Rd. The two vehicles then collided in the intersection.
The SUV driver, identified as Eilain Lazarus, was taken to T.J. Samson Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision, and additional information may be released if it becomes available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
Why Crashes Often Occur When Entering Busy Roadways
Crashes frequently happen when a driver attempts to enter a busy roadway from a parking lot, driveway, or side street. These situations require drivers to judge the speed and distance of oncoming vehicles before pulling into traffic.
Limited visibility can make this task more difficult. Parked vehicles, buildings, signs, or roadside landscaping may block a driver’s view of approaching traffic.
Drivers already traveling on the main road may also have little time to react if another vehicle suddenly enters their lane. This can increase the chance of a collision, particularly at intersections or near commercial areas with multiple entrances.
Being cautious and waiting for a clear gap in traffic can help reduce the risk when turning or crossing a roadway from a parking lot.
