How Head-On Collisions Often Happen on Rural Highways
Head-on crashes can occur when a vehicle crosses the center line into oncoming traffic. On rural roads, this may happen due to driver fatigue, distraction, or sudden steering errors.
These types of collisions are often severe because both vehicles are moving toward each other at the time of impact. The force of the crash can lead to significant damage and serious outcomes, especially when larger vehicles like semi-trucks are involved.
Road design can also affect safety. Narrow lanes, limited lighting, and fewer barriers may increase the chance of vehicles drifting out of their lane. Staying alert and maintaining lane position can help reduce the risk of these incidents.
