Rollover Crashes Involving Multiple Vehicles Can Create Chaotic Scenes
Multi-vehicle rollover crashes often result in widespread roadway debris and injuries affecting several people at once. When vehicles overturn or parts separate during impact, nearby traffic can also become endangered by flying debris or blocked lanes.
Busy highways like Maryland Route 4 frequently carry steady traffic, which can increase the severity of crashes involving several vehicles. Strong side impacts or sudden changes in direction may cause vehicles to roll, especially when struck at higher speeds.
Emergency crews responding to these incidents often need to rescue trapped occupants, coordinate medical transport, and secure landing zones for helicopters. Investigators later examine vehicle damage, roadway evidence, and witness accounts to better understand how the crash occurred.
