Iowa Park, TX (April 20, 2026) – Two people were killed in a single semi-truck crash early on Saturday morning, April 18, west of Iowa Park.
The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. along US 287 near mile marker 326. Emergency units responded to the scene and found a tractor-trailer that had rolled onto its side after losing control.
Reports indicate strong crosswinds caused the driver to lose control of the truck. The vehicle veered right before overcorrecting to the left, leading to a rollover. The semi also struck a guardrail and became entangled.
The driver, identified as 43-year-old Joshua Brad Sneed of Banks, Alabama, and the passenger, 31-year-old Ashley Ramirez De los Santos Corona of Thomasville, Georgia, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our condolences go out to the victims’ loved ones.
High Winds Can Increase the Risk of Truck Rollovers
Large trucks are more affected by strong winds due to their size and height. Crosswinds can push against the side of a trailer, making it harder for the driver to maintain control, especially at highway speeds.
Sudden steering adjustments can make the situation worse. Overcorrecting after a gust of wind may shift the truck’s balance, increasing the chance of a rollover. This is particularly true when the trailer is empty or lightly loaded.
Road features like open highways or elevated areas can expose vehicles to stronger wind conditions. Drivers may need to reduce speed or adjust travel plans when wind conditions are severe.
