Highway Safety and Emergency Vehicle Awareness
Crashes involving emergency vehicles can create especially hazardous conditions for both first responders and other motorists on the roadway. Drivers are encouraged to remain attentive, avoid distractions, and maintain awareness of surrounding traffic, especially during overnight travel when visibility may be reduced.
Emergency personnel often spend extended periods operating on or near highways while responding to calls or returning from service. Motorists should use caution around ambulances, police vehicles, and fire apparatus by slowing down and giving crews enough space to work safely.
Authorities also remind drivers that wearing seat belts and practicing defensive driving habits can significantly reduce the severity of injuries in traffic collisions. Safe and responsible driving remains essential in helping prevent serious crashes across Kentucky roadways
