What Makes Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections More Severe?
Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than larger vehicles, which can make them harder for drivers to notice at intersections. When a vehicle turns left across oncoming traffic, the rider may have little time to react, increasing the risk of a crash.
Unlike drivers in enclosed vehicles, motorcyclists have less protection during a collision. Being thrown from the motorcycle can lead to more serious injuries, especially if safety gear is not used.
Speed and timing also affect how these crashes happen. Even a small misjudgment by a driver or rider can lead to a direct impact, particularly on busy roads where traffic moves in multiple directions at once.
