What Happens When a Semi-Truck Overturns on a Highway
When a semi-truck overturns, it can block multiple lanes and disrupt traffic for an extended time. These incidents often require specialized equipment to clear, especially if the truck is carrying heavy cargo like steel.
Loads such as steel coils are dense and may need cranes to safely remove them from the roadway. This process can take hours, depending on the position of the truck and the condition of the cargo.
Traffic delays are common during these events, as crews must ensure the road is safe before reopening. Even when no one is hurt, clearing the scene can be a complex operation due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles.
