Impaired Driving and Unsafe Maneuvers Increase Crash Risks
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol can significantly impair a driver’s judgment, reaction time, and ability to make safe decisions on the road. When combined with risky maneuvers, such as attempting to turn around on a high-speed interstate, the danger to other motorists increases dramatically.
Highways like Interstate 94 typically carry high-speed traffic, leaving little time for drivers to react to unexpected obstacles or sudden maneuvers. Even brief disruptions in traffic flow can quickly lead to collisions.
Investigators examining impaired driving crashes often review factors such as toxicology results, roadway conditions, vehicle positioning, and witness statements to determine how the incident unfolded and what contributed to the crash.
