What Happens After a Head-On Highway Crash
Head-on crashes on two-lane highways often occur when a vehicle crosses the center line into oncoming traffic. These accidents can happen for several reasons, including distraction, fatigue, or sudden attempts to avoid hazards.
After a serious highway collision, emergency responders focus on helping those inside the vehicles and clearing the roadway. Medical teams assess injuries at the scene before deciding if people should be taken to nearby hospitals.
Investigators may later review several factors connected to the crash. This can include the position of the vehicles, damage patterns, and marks left on the roadway. These details can help piece together how the vehicles came into contact.
Information about the drivers, weather conditions, and traffic flow at the time of the crash may also help clarify the sequence of events.
