Morehouse, MO (May 9, 2026) – One man died, and two others were injured after a two-vehicle crash early on Saturday morning on US-60 eastbound in Stoddard County. The collision occurred around 4:50 a.m. about three miles west of Morehouse.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC struck the rear of a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan while both vehicles were traveling eastbound. After the impact, the Mercedes traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Authorities said the 28-year-old driver of the Mercedes, a man from Nacogdoches, Texas, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A 26-year-old passenger from Houston suffered serious injuries and was flown to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The 50-year-old driver of the Dodge Grand Caravan, from Dexter, Missouri, suffered minor injuries and later sought treatment at a hospital in Sikeston.
Investigators noted that the driver and passenger inside the Mercedes were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash; they continue working to determine all factors involved in the collision.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
How Do Rollover Crashes Often Lead to Severe Injuries?
Rollover crashes can cause serious or fatal injuries because occupants may experience multiple impacts as the vehicle overturns. The risk of ejection also increases when seat belts are not used, especially during high-force collisions on highways.
Rear-end crashes at highway speeds may cause drivers to lose control and leave the roadway before a rollover occurs. Investigators often review vehicle speed, roadway conditions, and crash dynamics to understand how a collision progressed. Emergency medical transport, including air medical response, is commonly used in severe crashes when victims require immediate advanced care.
