Morristown Twp, MN (January 7, 2026) – An early morning crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck resulted in injuries Tuesday in Rice County. The collision occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. along Highway 60 near Milepost 135 in Morristown Township.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2012 Jeep Liberty was traveling westbound on Hwy 60 when it collided with an eastbound 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck. The impact caused significant damage to the Jeep and resulted in injuries to the driver, a 16-year-old female from Morristown.
Emergency responders from Morristown Rescue and North Memorial Ambulance arrived at the scene, where the teen driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. She was later transported to Allina Health Faribault Medical Center for further care. Authorities confirmed that the teen was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and that no alcohol was involved.
The driver of the Peterbilt, 68-year-old Timothy James Little of Faribault, was not injured and did not require medical transport. Airbags in the Jeep Liberty deployed during the crash, while the semi-truck’s airbag system was not applicable.
The Rice County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Traffic in the area was affected during the emergency response.
