New Caney, TX (April 20, 2026) – A burning 18-wheeler brought traffic to a near standstill along the Eastex Freeway in Montgomery County on April 17. The incident occurred along U.S. 59 at Legion Rd in New Caney.
According to the sheriff’s office, the big rig was fully engulfed in flames at the time of the report. Two southbound lanes were shut down as a result, and the southbound exit ramp was also blocked.
Drivers in the area were advised to seek alternate routes to avoid significant delays. It was not immediately clear what caused the truck to catch fire, and no information about the extent of injuries was available at the time of reporting.
