Why Rear-End Collisions on Highways Can Be Deadly
Highway rear-end collisions can be particularly dangerous when a vehicle is stopped unexpectedly in a travel lane. Vehicles traveling at high speeds have limited time to react, and large trucks require a greater distance to stop safely.
Even minor impacts at highway speeds can cause serious injuries or fatalities, especially when the struck vehicle is smaller. Visibility, road conditions, and driver attention all play a role in preventing these crashes.
Prompt emergency response is critical for treating injuries and securing the scene to reduce further risk to other motorists.
