Grant County, WA (June 3, 2026) – One person sustained injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon involving a sedan and a semi-truck on State Route 28.
According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeremy Weber, the accident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 28 and Road U.7 Northwest. Investigators said a sedan struck the rear of a semi-truck under circumstances that have not yet been fully determined.
One occupant from the sedan was taken to Confluence Health Hospital in Wenatchee with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported among those involved in the crash.
The collision caused significant traffic delays along the highway for several hours while investigators documented the roadway and cleared the vehicles.
The cause of the crash remains under review, and troopers have not indicated whether any contributing factors, such as impairment, were involved. Investigators continue to examine how the collision occurred.
What Is Commonly Reviewed in Rear-End Collisions Involving Large Trucks?
In rear-end crashes involving passenger vehicles and semi-trucks, investigators typically examine speed, following distance, and traffic flow leading up to the point of contact. These factors can help determine whether one vehicle was unable to stop in time or if traffic conditions changed suddenly.
Roadway design and visibility are also reviewed, especially on highways where speeds are higher and stopping distances increase. Physical evidence such as skid marks, vehicle damage, and debris patterns can help establish the sequence of events.
Investigators may also consider environmental conditions and driver behavior before the collision. In cases involving large trucks, differences in braking distance and vehicle mass are often key factors in understanding how the impact occurred and how the roadway situation developed.
