Why Wrong-Way Collisions Are Particularly Deadly
Crashes involving a vehicle traveling the wrong way are often severe due to the sudden and unexpected head-on impact. The combined speeds of both vehicles greatly increase the force of the collision, making injuries more likely to be serious or fatal.
These accidents can occur for many reasons, including driver confusion, impairment, or fatigue. On high-speed roads, drivers have very little time to react, making it difficult to avoid a collision.
Even with modern safety features like airbags and seat belts, the chances of fatal injuries are high in wrong-way crashes. Extra caution, proper signage, and attentive driving can help reduce the risk of these dangerous incidents.
