Why Wrong-Way Driving and Signal Violations Can Lead to Severe Crashes
Wrong-way driving incidents are among the most dangerous types of roadway events because they often result in high-speed, head-on, or angle impacts. When combined with traffic signal violations, the risk of severe injury or fatality increases significantly.
Urban intersections can be especially hazardous due to multiple traffic directions, pedestrian activity, and frequent signal changes. ATV crashes on public roadways may also present added risks because these vehicles are not designed for street traffic. In multi-occupant vehicles like rideshare services, passengers may face a range of injuries depending on seating position and impact force. Emergency responders typically focus first on life-threatening injuries before transporting patients to nearby trauma centers, especially when juveniles are involved.
