Why Some Crash Victims Become Trapped in Their Vehicles
In certain collisions, the force of impact can deform a vehicle’s frame, making it difficult for occupants to exit. Doors may become jammed, and parts of the car can collapse inward, trapping those inside.
Rescue efforts often require specialized tools to safely remove trapped occupants. Emergency crews work carefully to prevent further injury while creating space to free those involved.
The severity of damage depends on factors such as speed, impact angle, and vehicle design. Crashes at intersections can increase the risk of side-impact collisions, which are more likely to result in entrapment.
