Why Single-Vehicle and Passing Crashes Can Be Especially Dangerous
Single-vehicle crashes often involve loss of control, roadway departure, and fixed-object impacts, which can result in severe injuries even without other traffic involved. Factors such as speed, road conditions, or driver impairment are commonly examined in these incidents.
Head-on crashes during passing maneuvers are among the most dangerous types of collisions. When a vehicle enters oncoming lanes at highway speeds, drivers have little time to react, and the resulting impact forces are often catastrophic. Investigators typically review visibility, passing zones, and traffic conditions to determine how these crashes unfold.
