Kansas City, KS (August 11, 2026) – According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, two people were seriously injured after a Chevrolet Malibu crashed into the trailer of a Ford F-250 on Interstate 435 near Swartz Road in Wyandotte County.
The crash was reported around 6:25 p.m. Sunday, August 10, on southbound Interstate 435 about a half-mile south of Swartz Road. A 2005 Chevrolet Malibu struck the trailer of a 2005 Ford F-250 as the pickup driver attempted to pull onto the shoulder.
The Malibu’s driver, 73-year-old Jay Kenneth Adams of Lenexa, and his passenger, 74-year-old Linda J. Adams of Lenexa, both suffered serious injuries. Jay Adams was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, while Linda Adams was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital.
The Ford’s driver, 28-year-old Ryan Hershell Thomas of Lenexa, was not injured. We are thinking of Jay and Linda Adams and wishing them strength as they recover from their injuries.
