How High-Speed Crashes at Busy Intersections Can Lead to Severe Damage
Crashes at intersections often become more severe when high speeds are involved. Vehicles entering from different directions increase the chance of side-impact collisions, which can cause significant structural damage.
When speed is a factor, the force of impact rises sharply. This can cause vehicles to break apart or spin out, spreading debris over a wide area. Nearby road users, including cyclists or pedestrians, may also be at risk from flying debris.
Traffic patterns and frequent congestion at intersections can increase danger. When drivers move too fast through these areas, they have less time to react to signals, turning vehicles, or unexpected obstacles.
