Hollis, AK (July 16, 2026) – Two teenagers lost their lives on Tuesday evening, July 14, after their dirt bikes collided on Hollis Highway near Hollis on Prince of Wales Island.
According to Alaska State Troopers, the crash was reported shortly before 7:30 p.m. near Mile 24 of Hollis Highway. Authorities identified the victims as 18-year-old Greyer Schwegel and a 17-year-old.
Troopers said the two teens, who were friends, were riding dirt bikes when they collided with one another. No other people were in the area at the time of the incident. Two helmets were recovered at the scene, and emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures. Despite those efforts, both riders were pronounced dead at the scene.
