Why Multi-Car Crashes Often Occur on Busy Local Roads
Multi-vehicle crashes often occur on roads with steady local traffic. When several vehicles travel close together, a sudden stop or an unexpected maneuver can trigger a chain reaction.
Drivers may not always have enough time to slow down when the vehicle ahead brakes quickly. This can result in rear-end collisions that involve multiple cars over a short distance.
Intersections and commercial corridors may also increase risk. Vehicles entering driveways, turning onto side streets, or merging into traffic can create sudden changes in speed or lane position.
Keeping a safe following distance and staying alert to traffic flow can help drivers react more quickly. Consistent speeds and careful attention to nearby vehicles may reduce the chances of multi-car crashes on local roadways.
