Why Pedestrian Crashes Are Often Severe
Pedestrians struck by vehicles are particularly vulnerable due to the lack of protection compared to vehicle occupants. Even low-speed impacts can cause serious injuries, while higher-speed collisions often result in life-threatening harm.
Investigators examine vehicle speed, driver actions, visibility, and roadway conditions to determine how the crash occurred. Understanding these factors helps explain how pedestrians can be critically injured in collisions, even when drivers are cooperative.
