Common Factors Reviewed After Fatal Hit-and-Run Crashes
Fatal hit-and-run crashes often require a detailed review of the roadway, nearby damage, and any available witness information. Vehicle parts, skid marks, and debris might help show how the crash happened and what type of vehicle was involved.
Lighting and visibility can also matter in late-night pedestrian crashes. Dark roadways, nearby intersections, and traffic flow may affect how quickly a driver sees someone in or near the roadway.
Medical records can help confirm the severity and timing of injuries. Photos, surveillance video, and vehicle damage may also provide helpful information as officials work to identify the vehicle involved.
