Crosswalk Safety Depends on Visibility and Driver Awareness
Crosswalks are designed to provide safer crossing points for pedestrians, especially near schools and busy roads. Even so, visibility can vary depending on traffic, lighting, and nearby surroundings.
Morning hours often bring increased activity as students travel to school. This can lead to more vehicles and pedestrians sharing the same space at once.
Drivers approaching crosswalks are generally expected to slow down and watch for people crossing. Clear markings and signals can help, but attentiveness from both drivers and pedestrians remains key to reducing the chance of accidents.
