Acadia Parish, LA (April 13, 2026) – A 17-year-old died following an ATV crash that occurred Saturday night, April 11, on Louisiana Highway 95 near Wikoff Cove Drive.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. when a teenager was riding a 2005 Honda ATV northbound on LA Hwy 95. Authorities said a 2008 Audi traveling in the same direction struck the rear of the ATV.
The impact caused the ATV to overturn, ejecting the rider, identified as 17-year-old Hayden Castille of Branch. Emergency units responded to the scene, but Castille was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Investigators noted that the ATV was not illuminated at the time of the crash. No additional injuries were reported. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.
How Rear-End ATV Collisions Can Become Fatal on Rural Highways
ATV crashes on public roads can be especially dangerous due to the difference in speed and vehicle size. When a larger vehicle strikes an ATV from behind, the smaller vehicle is more likely to overturn.
Lighting and visibility play a major role in preventing these incidents, particularly during evening hours. Without proper lighting, ATVs may be harder for approaching drivers to see in time.
Ejection risk is also higher in ATV crashes because riders are typically not enclosed by protective structures. This can increase the severity of injuries even in single-impact collisions.
