What Typically Leads to Fatal Semi-Truck Crashes on Texas Highways?
Semi-truck crashes on Texas highways tend to be more serious than crashes involving only passenger vehicles, largely because of the size and weight of commercial trucks. When a loaded truck loses control or collides with another vehicle or object, the force involved can be devastating. Corridors like U.S. 75 in Collin County carry steady commercial traffic, making truck safety a consistent concern.
Factors that commonly contribute to semi-truck crashes include driver fatigue, mechanical failure, and sudden changes in road or weather conditions. Because commercial trucks require much longer stopping distances than standard vehicles, anything that limits reaction time raises the risk significantly. Even a brief lapse in attention at highway speeds can have serious consequences for a truck of that size.
