How Do Illegal Passing Maneuvers Lead to Deadly Head-On Crashes?
Head-on collisions, such as this crash on FM-51 in Cooke County, Texas, are often among the most severe types of roadway accidents.
Attempting to pass in a no-passing zone can place a vehicle directly into oncoming traffic, leaving little time for either driver to react. These situations are especially dangerous on rural roads where visibility may be limited.
When vehicles collide head-on at speed, the force of impact is significantly greater, increasing the likelihood of fatal injuries and vehicle fires, particularly when fuel systems are compromised.
