Petaluma, CA (June 8, 2026) – Several people were injured Friday afternoon, June 6, in a multi-vehicle crash on southbound U.S. 101 north of East Washington Street.
The accident happened at about 1:13 p.m. The preliminary report said a GMC Acadia was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with a big rig.
After that impact, the GMC lost control, hit another vehicle, and rolled over several times. Two people inside the GMC, including the driver, were ejected.
All injured parties were brought to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver, a 19-year-old Petaluma woman, was later determined to be under the influence and was arrested.
An adult male passenger remained hospitalized in critical condition. A 15-year-old passenger was treated and released from the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the wreck are still being reviewed as more facts are confirmed. We hope those hurt in this serious rollover receive the care and support they need.
Impaired Driving Rollovers Often Lead to Serious Harm
Rollover crashes can be dangerous because occupants may be thrown inside the vehicle or ejected if restraints fail or are not used. When speed and impairment are part of the report, the risks can rise quickly.
A vehicle that strikes one target and then hits another may change direction sharply. That sudden movement can make it harder for a driver to regain control before a rollover begins.
Passengers can face different injury levels in the same collision based on seat position, restraint use, and where the vehicle is hit. In severe cases, hospital care may continue long after the first report, especially when a person is listed in critical condition.
