Eastman, WI (March 17, 2026) – One person is in custody following a two-vehicle crash on Sunday night, March 15, that left another driver seriously injured in the Village of Eastman. The crash occurred around 7:51 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and Coffin Street.
Authorities said 19-year-old John Miller of Gilman was driving a Dodge Durango southbound when he lost control on a curve, crossed the center line, and collided with a Chevrolet Equinox driven by 50-year-old Patrick Wall of Eastman.
The impact forced Wall’s vehicle off the roadway and into a home. He had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Crossing Rivers Health with severe injuries.
Investigators reported that road conditions were icy and snow-covered at the time of the crash. Officials also determined Miller was traveling at a high rate of speed in a 25 mph zone. He was arrested and booked into the Crawford County Jail on charges of reckless driving causing great bodily harm, along with a citation for driving too fast for the conditions.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.
Our thoughts are with Patrick Wall as he receives medical care.
How Speed and Weather Conditions Contribute to Serious Crashes
Driving at high speeds on icy or snow-covered roads significantly increases the risk of losing control. Reduced tire traction makes it harder to steer or stop, especially on curves or narrow roads.
When a vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic, the risk of a severe collision rises sharply. Investigators review speed, road conditions, and vehicle movement to determine how these factors contributed to the crash.
