Jackson County, WI (March 17, 2026) – Authorities have released new details in a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred last week in the Town of Brockway.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Jordan Funmaker. The crash happened on Monday, March 9, along State Highway 54 between Red Iron Road and Mission Road.
Deputies arriving at the scene found Funmaker not breathing and attempted CPR before he was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials said preliminary information indicates Funmaker was walking in the lane of traffic while wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash. The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The case remains under investigation, and more details may be released as they become available.
Our condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Mr. Funmaker.
Why Pedestrian Visibility Is Critical at Night
Pedestrians walking in or near roadways can be difficult for drivers to see, especially in low-light conditions. Dark clothing can further reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a collision.
Investigators typically review lighting conditions, driver response, and pedestrian location to understand how these incidents occur. Visibility plays a key role in preventing pedestrian-related crashes.
