Enosburg, VT (March 6, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash left one person injured on Thursday afternoon, March 5, near the intersection of Route 105 and Orchard Street in Enosburg.
Emergency units responded to the scene at about 4:30 p.m. after reports of a collision involving two vehicles along the roadway. Investigators said a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was stopped on Route 105 while waiting to turn onto Orchard Street as oncoming traffic passed.
Officials reported that a 2013 Dodge Durango traveling east on Route 105 approached from behind and struck the rear of the stopped Chevrolet. The impact pushed the Cruze completely off the roadway.
Authorities identified the driver of the Chevrolet as 21-year-old Grace Ryea of Richford. Ryea suffered minor injuries and was taken to Northwest Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the Dodge, identified as 45-year-old Eric Vachon of Enosburg, was not injured in the crash. Both drivers were reported to be wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
The crash remains under investigation. Our thoughts are with those injured as they continue to recover.
Rear-End Crash Risks on Rural State Highways
Arterial roads near Route 105 often carry steady traffic through small towns and rural areas. Drivers may encounter vehicles slowing or stopping when preparing to turn onto side streets such as Orchard Street.
Rear-end crashes can occur when a following driver does not notice a slowing vehicle in time to stop safely. Even on dry roads with clear weather, sudden changes in traffic speed can lead to collisions if drivers are unable to react quickly.
Turning movements on rural highways can also increase the chance of crashes because vehicles waiting to turn may remain in travel lanes while traffic approaches from behind. Roadway visibility, following distance, and driver attention can all influence how these crashes occur.
