Fargo, ND (March 28, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash left a child injured Friday morning, March 27, at a busy Fargo intersection. The incident occurred just after 9:00 a.m. at 13th Avenue South and 25th Street South.
Authorities reported that a red SUV traveling east on 13th Avenue South ran a red light and struck a black SUV heading south on 25th Street South. The impact then caused a secondary collision with a nearby minivan.
A child involved in the crash was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No other injuries were reported at this time. The driver of the red SUV was cited for failing to obey a traffic signal. The driver of the black SUV was cited for having a child who was not properly restrained.
Emergency units managed traffic at the intersection for about 30 minutes while crews cleared the scene. All three vehicles were towed, and normal traffic resumed by around 9:40 a.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We hope the injured child recovers quickly and fully.
How Do Intersection Violations Lead to Multi-Vehicle Crashes?
Crashes at intersections often occur when drivers fail to follow traffic signals. Running a red light can place a vehicle directly in the path of crossing traffic, leading to sudden and forceful impacts.
These collisions can involve more than two vehicles, especially when the initial crash pushes a vehicle into others nearby. Chain-reaction crashes are more likely in areas with steady traffic flow.
Passenger safety can also be affected by how occupants are secured. Proper restraints, especially for children, help reduce the risk of injury during sudden impacts. Even at moderate speeds, the force of a crash can be significant.
