What Can Lead to Wrong-Way Driving Accidents?
Wrong-way driving crashes often happen when a driver enters a roadway in the opposite direction of traffic. This can occur due to confusion at intersections, poor visibility at night, or missing road signs. In some cases, unfamiliar roads or fatigue may also contribute to these situations.
These types of accidents are especially dangerous because they often result in head-on impacts. Vehicles traveling toward each other at high speeds can lead to severe damage and a higher chance of serious harm. Even in areas with traffic signals or lighting, wrong-way driving can still occur.
Road design and clear signage can help reduce these risks. Drivers are also encouraged to stay alert, especially in unfamiliar areas or during nighttime travel, when visibility is reduced.
