Florence, KY (April 13, 2026) – Authorities disclosed the name of the woman who lost her life following a head-on crash Saturday night, April 11, at the intersection of Mall Road and Mall Access in Florence.

The collision occurred around 8:51 p.m. when two vehicles struck each other head-on at the intersection. Emergency units responded and found both drivers hurt at the scene.

Michelle Littleton, 55, of Cincinnati, was identified as one of the drivers involved. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Early findings indicate that Littleton’s vehicle may have been traveling on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash. No additional details have been released. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Michelle Littleton.

What Can Lead to Head-on Collisions at Intersections

Head-on crashes often happen when a vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic. This can occur for several reasons, including confusion at intersections, poor visibility, or driver error. Intersections with multiple access points may increase the chance of vehicles entering the wrong lane.

These types of collisions can be especially serious due to the direct impact between vehicles. Even at moderate speeds, the force involved can result in severe consequences.

Road design, lighting, and clear signage may help reduce confusion in busy areas. Drivers are generally advised to remain alert when approaching intersections and to double-check lane positioning before proceeding.
