How Right-of-Way Violations Affect Intersection Crashes
Crashes at intersections often occur when a driver fails to yield as required. Stop signs and other controls are placed to guide traffic safely, but failure to follow them can lead to serious impacts, especially when vehicles cross paths.
When a vehicle enters an intersection without yielding, it may be struck by traffic moving at full speed. These types of collisions can be severe due to the angle of impact and the limited time for drivers to react.
Larger vehicles, such as trucks towing trailers, require more distance to slow down or stop. This can increase the risk of serious injury when a smaller vehicle pulls into their path. Visibility, road conditions, and driver attention all influence how these crashes unfold.
