How Firefighters Are Injured During Residential Structure Fires
House fires can become dangerous very quickly due to heat, smoke, and collapsing materials. Firefighters often enter these environments while conditions remain unstable to search for hazards and control the flames.
Roof fires can be especially risky because weakened structures may not be visible from the outside. As fire spreads, roofing materials can become unstable, increasing the chance of sudden shifts or falling debris.
Smoke conditions also reduce visibility and can make movement difficult inside a building. Even experienced crews rely on protective gear and teamwork to reduce risk while working in rapidly changing environments.
