Diamond Bar, CA (June 16, 2026) – Authorities investigated a hit-and-run crash with injuries on Monday afternoon on the connector from northbound State Route 57 to eastbound State Route 60 in Diamond Bar.
According to dispatch records from the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported shortly after 12:12 p.m. on June 15 on the northbound SR-57 transition roadway to eastbound SR-60. Initial reports indicated a black Volkswagen Taos was disabled following a collision with an unidentified vehicle.
As the investigation unfolded, officials upgraded the incident from a hit-and-run without injuries to a hit-and-run with injuries. Dispatch logs indicated that the son of one of the involved parties contacted authorities and reported that his father had been injured in the crash.
Emergency responders, including Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, were dispatched to the scene after reports of a possible head injury and a broken arm involving the occupant of a white Chevrolet cargo van. Authorities also received reports that one of the vehicles was smoking following the collision.
The crash created traffic disruptions in a construction zone where a box truck was reportedly impeding traffic in a single-lane area. Emergency crews worked to clear the scene, and all lanes were reopened by approximately 1:24 p.m. The hit-and-run investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify the vehicle that left the scene.
We hope those injured in the collision make a full recovery.
Why Hit-and-Run Crashes Require Extended Investigations?
Hit-and-run collisions can be particularly challenging for investigators because one of the involved drivers leaves before authorities can gather information at the scene. As a result, officers rely on witness statements, vehicle debris, surveillance footage, and physical evidence to identify the fleeing vehicle.
When injuries are reported, investigators may also review medical information, vehicle damage, and roadway evidence to establish how the collision occurred. Construction zones and congested freeway connectors can further complicate investigations because of limited space, heavy traffic, and multiple potential witnesses.
Authorities frequently encourage anyone who may have witnessed a hit-and-run crash or captured video of the incident to come forward. Information provided by motorists and nearby businesses can play an important role in helping investigators locate the responsible party.
