What Happens After a Crash Involving a Commercial Vehicle?
Crashes involving commercial vehicles often require additional review because of the size and weight difference between the vehicles involved. Larger trucks and work vehicles may take longer to stop and can cause heavier damage during a roadway collision. Investigators commonly review traffic patterns, driver actions, vehicle maintenance records, and roadway conditions after these crashes occur.
Medical evaluations are also common after these types of wrecks, even when injuries first appear minor. Some symptoms may not become noticeable until hours later. Photos from the roadway, witness statements, and damage to both vehicles can help explain how the crash unfolded. In some cases, lane closures remain in place while crews clear debris and remove damaged vehicles from travel lanes to restore normal traffic flow safely.
