Officials stated that the driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the crash. Emergency crews responded to the scene to assist and manage traffic while the roadway was cleared.
The crash remains under investigation, and additional details may be released as they become available.
We extend our condolences to the families affected by this tragedy.
Why Rear-End Collisions With Large Trucks Are Often Severe
Rear-end crashes involving semi-trucks can be especially dangerous due to the height and weight of the larger vehicle, as smaller vehicles may underride the trailer, leading to severe or fatal injuries. Unlike cars, trucks lack energy-absorbing bumpers, so the impact is harsher.
Maintaining safe following distances is critical in reducing the risk of these types of collisions. Also, drivers must avoid blind spots, cause truck drivers cannot see you in the areas directly behind and beside them.
